Not strictly speaking in New England but, fitting the bill on all other levels, the Housing Works thrift stores in Manhattan are everything you could wish for in a thrift shopping experience.  Great pieces at prices so cheap you can’t quite believe you’re in New York.  On my last visit I found a Boden blouse for $10. They sell men’s and women’s clothes, accessories, books, vinyl, furniture and housewares and jewelry and if the idea of shopping in New York is as overwhelming to you as it is to me, then you’ll probably love these shops too.  Although they have locations in all over the city, I’ve only been to the Gramercy Park and Chelsea locations so far, so plenty to see on future trips.
