Titcomb’s is much larger than it first appears. There are three floors of books. The used and rare books are mostly in the basement and on the second floor with new books, cards and gifts on the first floor. Staff were very friendly and even gave us a great recommendation for somewhere to have dinner – O’Shea’s in Dennis, Irish as the name suggests and live music every night. I definitely got the impression that Titcomb’s is a bit of a Barnstaple institution and it’s where locals come to order their books for school. They sell a range of literary t-shirts including The Great Gatsby and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes however, sizes run small so don’t overdo it on the ice-cream or the fried shrimp.
