Located on the second floor of the beautiful Slater Memorial building on the campus of Norwich Free Academy, the Slater Museum is truly a hidden gem. The large collection of cast replicas of classical and Renaissance sculptures are both startling and impressive. The sheer number of pieces all together in one place is quite a sight. The building itself is a splendid example of late nineteenth century red brick architecture (Romanesque Revival) with frieze panels in the brick work and a large red owl perched on one of the pediments. The museum gift shop is worth a mention too, selling a nicely eclectic mix of books, ceramics, art pieces and prints.
Admission for adults is only $3, free with NARM membership
